Tips For Staying Slim Forever

When it comes to staying in great shape what you put into your body plays a crucial role. You can exercise for hours every week but if your diet is bad then you could just be wasting your time.
Every new year we are bombarded with adverts for diets, slimming pills and get skinny quick regimes (specialK anyone?).
The simple truth is, that if you eat healthily and exercise then your body will remain naturally slim and you wont have to go on a diet.
'Diet' is a loaded word that conjures up images of starvation, discomfort and faddish eating (Atkins, The Zone, Food Combining) So at breathe we would never recommend a 'diet' instead we encourage smart nutrition that gives your body what it needs to stay slim and healthy. A treat for sluggish digestive systems. Energising, clean, wonderful delicious food.

Wake up every morning to hot water and lemon. It has a cleansing effect on the body and kick-starts a sluggish digestive system. Invest in a rebounder or mini-trampoline. According to nasa rebounding is the most effective form of exercise known to man It burns up calories without putting strain on the joints and boosts the immune sytem. Bouncing for twenty minutes every morning will fire up your metabolism and get you burning fat before breakfast. EAT every three hours. Small healthy meals that include some lean protein are proven to keep your metabolism active and keep energy levels on an even keel turning your body into a fat-burning machine. Resist, resist! No not the urge to eat but add resistance training i.e. Pilates, dynamic yoga or weight training into your weekly schedule two to three times a week to build lean, calorie burning muscle and raise your metabolic rate. Treat yourself? As kids we were given fat laden sugary snacks as a 'treat' if we were upset or distressed by something. Carry this bad habit through to adulthood and you end up in a cycle of comfort eating. How exactly is filling your body with artery clogging, blood sugar spiking foods a treat to the body? Re-define the concept of a treat. Treat yourself to some delicious organic vitamin enriched nectarines or skin enhancing wild salmon and avocado. Treat your body as well as your tastebuds. Make a real commitment to gaining better health. Think of all the things you will get when you achieve your desired goal. e.g. a bigger choice of clothing, increased confidence, more energy. Keep a food and exercise diary. Remind yourself daily of your commitment. Establish healthy habits. Your time is now. Live it well.
