With regular and dedicated practice of Pilates you will reap the following benefits.

In 1926 Joe Pilates set up the first dedicated 'Contrology' studio in New York.
He had been working on and perfecting his exercise system for many years in Europe inspired by the classical Greek ideal of a man who is balanced equally in body, mind and spirit.
Joe believed that modern lifestyle, bad posture and inefficient breathing were the roots of poor health.
Contrology was his answer to this. A unique series of life enhancing physical exercises that help to correct muscular imbalances and improve posture, co-ordination, balance , strength and flexibility, as well as to increase breathing capacity and organ function.
A truly inspirational and compelling trainer the term 'Contrology' that Joe had invented for his exercise system never stuck. It became simply known as Pilates.
'Im fifty years ahead of my time' he famously said.
Indeed, the exercises that were taught in a small eigth avenue fitness studio to ballet dancers, actors and singers in search of physical excellence have in the last twenty years evolved into a mainstream fitness phenomenon practiced by millions.

Increased strength, flexibility and balance. Improved posture and alignment. Enhanced breathing and circulation. Improved muscle tone, energy and mental concentration.

"I must be right. Never an asprin. Never injured a day in my life. The whole country. The whole world, should be doing my exercises. They'd be happier."

Joe Pilates in 1965, age 86.
